Message from the President

Welcome to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s reaffirmation reports developed under the guidance of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reaffirmation process. On behalf of our University, I invite you to review the reports our faculty and staff have created to support our 2020 reaffirmation of accreditation. Embedded in this site are our Compliance Certification, Focused Report, Quality Enhancement Plan, and other required documents.

The University seized the opportunity inherent in the development of responses to the Principles of Accreditation to undertake comprehensive institutional introspection at this auspicious time when UL Lafayette’s Strategic Plan 2015 – 2020 is closing and planning for the next phase of institution’s future is beginning. The Compliance Certification afforded the University an opportunity to take stock of its strengths and unique qualities while identifying strategic areas for new endeavors and progress. The reaffirmation process has provided the University a comprehensive mechanism from which to re-examine our curriculum and co-curricular activities, as well as administrative processes and procedures, as we persist in our journey of continuous improvement in all areas. While the Focused Report has allowed us to clarify compliance with a few standards, the institution’s engagement in the development and early implementation of the QEP, Advance: Student Research Experience, has invigorated the enthusiasm for undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity across campus.

In the 118 years since the institution began enrolling students, UL Lafayette has prided itself on providing quality faculty and academic programs, as well as delivering upon its core values of helping others, research for a reason, taking learning beyond the classroom, and bringing people together. These reports are borne of the work of many dedicated individuals across campus who, with their colleagues, work tirelessly to advance the institution’s mission through their authentic and deep-seated commitment to the continual development of the education of our students.

At UL Lafayette our faculty, staff, and students ceaselessly contribute their multiple talents, inspired minds, and unyielding commitment to the improvement of the human condition through the delivery of exceptional education and the discovery of knowledge. We are most grateful to the Commission for its partnership with us in our passion to change the world through education and in the success of our students for years to come.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joseph Savoie

President
